Long hair wasn’t at the edge of fashion really; it was shorter hair looks that dominated. However, looking at Beyonce on stage you would never have known it! She brought her Sasha Fierce out every time and showed the world that long hair was sexy and wild at her live performances. Tyra Banks also gave us plenty to look at with her longer styles.

On the short hair front, Rihanna and Keri Hilson gave women something to be jealous of and gave men the sex appeal they are looking for in women’s fashion. These two fashion-forward divas have been competing for the number one slot as the queen of hair for all ladies of color.

Rihanna has traditionally been in the limelight showing off her long side-swept bangs with various highlights and colors. And Keri has been working hard to compete with her different short styles in various bobs and long and short bangs. This competition has been great for women because it has given us lots of options to bring pictures to our stylists to try out the ones we like the best! Finally, this year has also been a celebration of our natural wavy and curly hair. It has been a year of expressing our personalities. Take Missy Elliot or the Black Eyed Peas’ hairstyles and you will see pure expressiveness and shock effect that put them at the front of edgy fashion this year!

Choosing Bridesmaids Hair in 2010

Choosing Bridesmaids Hair in 2010

Every bride faces the same problem on their wedding day: you really don’t want your bridesmaids to look better than you. Not that it’s possible, as all attention is to be focused on you anyway (and it’s your day so you’re automatically the prettiest one there), but you really don’t want to do anything that’s going to detract from that and possibly make you…well…the j-word.
The solution to this problem is simple though. Your bridesmaids add to your beauty by complimenting you with theirs. Finding dresses for bridesmaids is a chore in itself, but finding hairstyles may make you wonder if cutting off their hair is really the answer. (It’s not, and they might not appreciate it.) So, to ward off your frustration, here’s a few simple suggestions for this year’s bridesmaid hairstyles:

Short hair is absolutely gorgeous with one or two tiny little accessories added to it. Try to put it somewhere off center, and have it be elegant and classy, not gaudy. For example, a few baby’s breaths just behind the ear, or a couple of decorated clips.

Medium hair can be swept up, not at the top but in the back. Again, accessories here are key, but since the hair is a big longer, bigger accessories might do. Butterfly clips, curls, fancy parts – whatever tickles your fancy, go for it.

For longer hair, you’ll have to find something that fits your particular face and preferences. Again, most women prefer to wear their hair up, but longer hair gives you much more to work with. You can do something messy, or even curly. With long hair, accessories aren’t needed, as the style can usually speak for itself.

Trendy 2010 Hairstyles For Summer

Trendy 2010 Hairstyles For Summer

It’s a new year, and you – along with the rest of humanity – are thinking about a new you. So you want to cut your hair to signify the fact that you’re starting over. Congratulations. Now that that’s out of the way, you’re probably wondering what’s new and trendy in 2010. I’ll tell you, but keep in mind that hairstyles come and go, so you need to be really versatile and ready to make a commitment if you’re going to go through with it. Speaking of versatile, one haircut that’s rampaging the red carpet right now is the versatile haircut. I’m serious. That’s what it’s called. Basically your hair is shorter underneath and longer on the top. No, it’s not a reverse mullet. You can actually see it in action on two of the Kardashians, Kim and Khloe. This hairstyle really is versatile, allowing you to wear it any way you see fit: up, down, over your eye, in waves, straight, curly, an afro. OK, maybe not an afro, but you could if you really wanted to. You get the picture. A choppy hairstyle is also great, especially if you want something that’s easy to maintain and take care of. This style usually works better on short hair than it does long, so try not to let your hair surpass chin-length if you’re going to get it.
Sexy Layered Hair

Want something a little more elegant? Try a layered hairstyle. This is a rarity can go with any length, type or grade of hair. It’s also very easy to maintain, and can be worn by women of all ages.

2010 Wedding Hair Colors - Spring, Summer Edition

2010 Wedding Hair Colors - Spring, Summer Edition

When you say “blushing bride” you’re probably thinking of some fair-skinned damsel with light hair, soft eyes and features that would make a China doll jealous. Too bad we don’t live in the land of make-believe, where that might actually be true. No, we live in the real world, where we might not exactly be blushing, and most of us don’t look like hand-carved, extremely breakable porcelain. But hey, that’s a good thing. If you trip over your train, you’d shatter like Kanye West’s faith in humanity.

So, you’re here because you need a hair color. This year is pretty simple – blonde is no longer in style. Yep, you read that right. Blondes may have had more fun some years back, but at the opening of this decade brunettes are the new blond. (Don’t you hate that phrase? Something is the new something? Why can’t we just go back to saying it’s in or it’s out? Fashion, you overcomplicate everything.)

Dark hair looks great on just about everyone, no matter what your skin tone, body type, or fashion preferences are. You don’t even have to actually be brunette. A deep, rich red works just as well, and adds a bit of color and vibrancy to your general persona. (Think Lindsay Lohan before she went blonde.) Whatever color you decide on, don’t make it too dark. And beware of black, or you might wind up looking gothic. Unless your hair is already black. In which case, congratulations: you’re the new brunette.

If you are a woman in your forties you probably lead a busy life looking after the family while still trying to succeed in your career. The last thing on your mind is probably your hair. The good news is there are great hairstyles for women in their forties that you can choose from.

When choosing the right hairstyle, it has to be easy to manage and easy to maintain. This is why so many older women choose to go for shorter cuts to save themselves the trouble. Shorter haircuts are definitely easier to manage and easier to color if need be. The most popular at the moment is the pixie look, and this is very easy to achieve. All you need to do is wash your hair and apply some styling mousse. Use your fingers and run it through your hair while blow-drying. Use a bit of molding cream to flatten the sides and the top. You can also use the cream to clump pieces of hair together to create extra texture. This style gives you an edgy and sophisticated look.

If you don’t want to go that short you can still keep a medium length if you have the time to maintain it. Some slight layers are great to add a bit of texture and movement. Cute Layered Hairstyles For Medium and Other Length Hair in 2010

Cute Layered Hairstyles For Medium and Other Length Hair in 2010

Whatever the hair length, everybody is looking for ways to spice up their style. Cute layered hairstyles are a great way to get that sexy yet sophisticated look, and are perfect for medium and other lengths. A great way to make your layers work for you is to add lots of soft curls to add body. To create the perfect layers there are a few things you have to take into account. This includes the length of your hair, the type of hair you have and the shape of your face. If you want to create a cute layered hairdo all you will need is a curling iron or rollers, pins, and ribbons or beads elastics to accessorize. To ensure the style is kept in place you will need to apply a bit of styling mousse evenly through your hair after you have washed and towel dried it. If you have longer hair you should use a larger radial brush, and for medium hair a medium brush. These types of brushes add volume to the style.

When blow-drying, always part your hair into sections and blow from the back. From the root, blow-dry from the top and when you get to the ends curl them under. When your hair is dry you can use a curling iron to create the perfect set of curls. Also part your hair into sections and start at the back. Place the ends of the hair at the base of the curling iron and curl up to the mid-lengths. Hold for several seconds and unwind. If you are using rollers follow the same procedure, but leave them in for about 20 minutes. Comb the curls through gently to separate them and apply some hairspray to hold the style in place. By following this simple procedure you can have a cute layered hairstyle no matter your hair length.

How To Wear Formal Hair

How To Wear Formal Hair

It is hard enough trying to figure out how to wear your hair on a normal day or a night out on the town. Choosing a style for a formal event is an even more daunting task and it is easy to panic. Here are a few styles to consider when it comes to how to wear formal hair.

Whether it is for a prom or a wedding, the most popular style has long been the updo. This style is perfect because it allows you to show off the full extent of your outfit, and doesn’t hide the make-up you spent hours doing. It can range from simple straight or curly dos to fancy styles with plaits and waves. To glam it up a bit you could use decorated pins, beads, glitter, and even a sparkling tiara. If you want a stunning updo but your hair is too short you could get extensions or a hairpiece to get the length. No matter which updo you choose it will give you an elegant look.

While updos are classic, wearing your hair down can also suit a formal occasion. A great idea would be to add curls or waves to get more character out of the style. The best part is you wouldn’t have to pay that much attention when it comes to the earrings, and you could even leave the necklace out altogether. You could curl all the way up to the roots for extra body, or curl up to the mid-lengths. Layers also work very well and frame the face nicely. Whatever style you opt for, make sure you decide well in advance to avoid any last minute mishaps.

Now that you know a little bit more about how to wear formal hair, you can choose a style that will be perfect for your special day.

Hairstyles For Women in Their Fifties and Over 50

Hairstyles For Women in Their Fifties and Over 50

Younger women are always fussing over their hairstyles and color, but as they get older priorities tend to shift. Hairstyles become a distant memory and it is just put up or cut short for convenience. With the revamp of the hair and beauty industry, more stylists are paying attention to creating hair styles for women in their fifties and over 50.

Choosing the right hairstyle for yourself requires you to consider a few things like face shape, hair type, and hair colour. With longer face shapes the aim is to create the illusion width, and this can be done with a longer length or layers that flare out. For diamond and heart shaped faces you want to add some shape to the face so layers cut in the mid-length or some soft curls will do the trick. For round face shapes the longer the cut the better.

The trend for hair styles for women in their fifties and over 50 is geared towards giving women a sexy yet sophisticated look. One of the most popular styles at the moment is the short pixie look. This is easy to do and maintain, and also enhances facial features. Another great choice is adding some subtle layers to a classic bob. This creates texture and movement without the longer length to manage. This naturally wavy look is especially great for medium to thick hair types.

As you age the color of your hair tends to fade, so you may want to get a color. You don’t have to get an all out dye job, you can go for low-lights. This is basically when the stylist picks several shades of your natural color to cover up any grays you may have. This is less noticeable than having an entire color change, and looks more natural.

With these hair styles for women in their fifties and over 50, you can have healthier looking hair in no time.

2010 Cute Hair Trends

As with other areas of fashion, hairstyles come and go. Your choice may be influenced by the occasion, your personal style or what’s hot at the moment. Here are some 2010 cute hair trends.

For a more casual affair, one of the most popular hairstyles for 2010 is a medium cut with layers to add texture and movement. Whatever your face shape the layers can be cut in such a way that it enhances your facial features. This style is great because it is easy to maintain and can be worn up or down, with even or asymmetrical bangs. It can also be turned into a shorter version where you add delicate layers to a classic bob. This gives any woman a cute and chic look.

Another popular trend for 2010 is the fringe. It can be cut evenly or be asymmetrical. This is great for framing the face and is especially suited to those with longer face shapes. It is also good for hiding expression lines or a big forehead. The style is easy to maintain and can be altered to suit many occasions by wearing it up or adding pins or beaded hair ties.

For the more formal occasions the updos are definitely among the most popular choices. These are perfect for weddings, proms or galas. These can range from simple pin ups with bangs hanging down, to spectacular styles with all sorts of glittering hair accessories. Updo Hair Trends 2010

Updo Hair Trends 2010

When it comes to hair fashion, hairstyles come and go with the passing seasons, but some styles remain forever timeless. One such style is the updo, and people all over the world are constantly trying to find new ways to modify the style. Here are some updo hairstyles trends for 2010.

An updo can give any woman a glamorous look and is most sought after for proms, weddings and gala events. In years gone buy an updo consisted of hair blown out straight and pinned up. The front was parted and the hair sleeked to the side. This is the classic, and it still looks stunning, especially when glittering hair accessories are added. These days there are many variations on the traditional updo.

One of the most popular modifications to the updo is the curly look. Rollers or a curling iron can be used to get the perfect set of curls. If you only want the back part curly and the front straight then it would be better to curl only up to the mid-lengths. If you want to whole do to be curly then curl all the way to the roots. Another popular trend is to have bangs hanging down, especially the asymmetrical style. This is elegant but still adds a hint of romance, rather than having a very restricted look.

It is always the little things and finer details that make all the difference. In today’s age of less being more, there has been a shift in the way people glam hairstyles up. Some cute details for an updo would be to add a simple tiara or a sprinkle of glitter. You could also use a fresh flower to pin into your hair or use a decorated hair clip.

These are just of the updo hair trends for 2010, and there is definitely one that will suit you.
